Power Rangers is one of the longest running action series for kids. When you have something that popular, there are bound to be a ton of knock-offs. Here are the Worst Power Rangers Knock-offs:
Big Bad Beetleborgs
Big Bad Beetleborgs is by far the worst show on this list. The Beetleborgs starred some kids who get turned into their favorite comic book heroes by a friendly ghost who looks like Elvis slept with Jay Leno. In between fighting bad guys with their giant beetle robots, they hang out with their friends who happen to all be classic horror monsters. This series was created by blindly throwing paint filled balloons at a wall with things that kids like written on it.
VR Troopers
A lot of the shows on this list directly rip all of their fight scenes straight out of a Japanese counterpart. VR Troopers does them one better and takes from three different series. Unfortunately for them, they ran out of footage and had to end the show. Maybe someone should have taught them about moderation.
Masked Rider
This show was a little bit more legitimate than most of the shows on this list. It was technically a spin-off of the Power Rangers since the title character showed up in a few episodes of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. It still pretty much followed the exact formula though. Bad guy shows up. Hero beats up bad guy. Rinse. Repeat.
The Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog
This is one of the better shows on the list as it is one of the only ones to film their own fight scenes. The show was set in Ireland and the monsters were all taken from actual Irish folklore. American audiences didn't really like it though since the only thing Irish we care about is St. Patrick's Day. Maybe they should have had some green beer drinking contests.
Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters From Beverly Hills
The main characters in this show all had magic tattoos. If there is one thing parents love, it is encouraging young children to get tattoos. That might be why it only lasted three months.
Superhuman Samurai Syber-squad
At least the other shows are all hardworking legitimate rip-offs. Syber-squad was created by a marketing team with the sole intent of trying to sell toys. That is probably why the show was so boring. It had no heart!
Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation
On the surface, this show doesn't look like it belongs on this list. As the robot monster craze was starting to die down, the creators of Power Rangers tried to bring back the Ninja Turtles as a live action series. It belongs here because when this show started, they actually did a crossover episode with Power Rangers In Space. The Power Rangers have no place in the Ninja Turtles' universe! Is nothing sacred?!?!?!!!!
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
When this show started, they would take the fight scenes from Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger and then film new dialogue scenes with American actors. It's kind of hard to be upset with any of the other shows on this list for being knock-offs since the Power Rangers started as a knock-off.
Every Other Power Rangers Series
As the years progressed, people stopped trying to rip off the Power Rangers and the Power Rangers just started ripping off themselves. In all, there have been two movies and sixteen Power Rangers television series spanning almost twenty years. The Power Rangers are older than a lot of you reading this and THEY WILL NEVER BE STOPPED!!!!11 PWR RNGRS 4 LYFE!!!!
